The rest of the Indian Wells 125K seeds had better luck on Tuesday, with No.8 seed Kristyna Pliskova, No.7 Kaia Kanepi and No.9 Taylor Townsend all moving on to the third round.

Pliskova had a fight on her hands from 18-year-old Olga Danilovic, and had to come back from a set down to win 2-6, 7-5, 7-5. The Czech’s big serve produced nine aces during the match – but Danilovic kept pace with eight aces of her own. Later, Kanepi seemed to have little problems in her 6-0, 6-2 rout of Allie Kiick, while Townsend fought through a close first set before crusing against Sachia Vickery, 7-5, 6-2.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Brady authored the day’s other upset, knocking out No.12 Madison Brengle in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1 to advance.
