Tony Bellew has labelled Tyson Fury’s decision not to face him as “comical” ahead of Fury’s return to the ring June 9.

After stropping David Haye in the fifth round May 5, Bellew was undecided on whether he would fight again. But Fury’s decision to face Sefer Seferi in his first fight back has brought taunts from Bellew who feels he would be a far tougher challenge than the Macedonian.

“I find it comical, the fact that he wouldn’t fight me because I am a cruiserweight, yet he is actually fighting a cruiserweight, which I find quite funny,” Bellew told Sky Sports.

“I understand why Tyson doesn’t want to come anywhere near me with the calibre of opponents he will be facing. I am a vast step up. He’s making David Haye look like he faced Ivan Drago in his comeback, with this opponent.

“It is a bit of a joke of a match-up but he has had a long time out of the ring and he needs to get back on top.”
